Company & Position Overview
Growing commercial insurance brokerage seeking a Claims Specialist to oversee and manage Workers’ Compensation claims while serving as a strategic partner to clients and internal teams.
This role will primarily focus on New York Workers’ Compensation claims from intake through resolution, with additional exposure to Commercial Auto and select Property claims. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing complex claims while maintaining strong communication with carriers, attorneys, and insured clients.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to move from the carrier/TPA side into a more client-facing, strategic role within a growing brokerage environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee Workers’ Compensation claims from intake through resolution
- Act as liaison between insureds, carriers, brokers, and defense counsel
- Review claims for compensability, reserves, strategy, and settlement opportunities
- Track diaries, deadlines, hearings, and Board requirements
- Ensure compliance with New York Workers’ Compensation regulations and timelines
- Follow up aggressively on open action items and Notices of Decision (NODs)
- Coordinate light duty and return-to-work efforts
- Prepare and manage claim-related documentation and forms
- Conduct claim reviews with clients and internal stakeholders
- Assist with Commercial Auto and Property-related claims as needed
Qualifications
- Active New York State Adjuster License
- 2+ years of New York Workers’ Compensation claims experience
- Strong understanding of NY Workers’ Compensation law and procedures
- Experience handling litigated claims and settlements
- Familiarity with Section 32 settlements and Medicare Set-Asides preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and follow-up skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
