Job # 5375

Vice President of Manufacturing Operations

$250,000

Job Overview

Vice President of Manufacturing & Production

New York City Metro Area | Full-time onsite
Compensation: $200,000–$300,000
Reports to: EVP of Operations

Why This Role Exists

We need a manufacturing leader who can build for where the operation is going, not just manage where it is today.

This role will lead a large, complex production organization and focus on the next 6–18 months: capacity, labor, automation, cost, productivity, leadership depth, and scalability.

This is a true leader-of-leaders role. Directors and Managers should own daily execution; the VP should be focused on growth, systems, accountability, and future-state performance. That distinction was central to the hiring-manager calibration. Joel Check In – Transcript

What You Will Own

  • Build and execute the manufacturing roadmap for growth.
  • Translate forecasted demand into capacity, labor, equipment, automation, and organizational plans.
  • Lead through senior manufacturing leaders and strengthen accountability at every level.
  • Establish and drive KPIs across productivity, throughput, labor efficiency, overtime, quality, cost, and capacity.
  • Increase output without allowing headcount, overtime, cost, or complexity to grow unnecessarily.
  • Identify bottlenecks early and determine whether the solution is process, people, machinery, automation, or capital.
  • Develop and upgrade Directors and Managers so they can run execution independently.
  • Own manufacturing budgets, labor economics, operating cost, and capital priorities.
  • Lead manufacturing, assembly, custom production, finishing, and R&D. Joel Check In – Transcript

What Success Looks Like

Within the first year:

  • Stronger leadership and clearer accountability.
  • Directors and Managers operating at the right level.
  • Consistent KPI-driven management.
  • Higher productivity and throughput.
  • Better labor efficiency and overtime control.
  • Lower manufacturing cost per unit.
  • Clear 12–18 month capacity and automation plans.
  • Manufacturing positioned ahead of business growth rather than reacting to it.

What You Need

  • Proven leadership of a large or complex manufacturing operation.
  • Experience leading leaders, not just frontline teams.
  • Strong analytical and KPI discipline.
  • Proven success scaling, transforming, or materially improving manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to plan 6–18 months ahead and convert strategy into execution.
  • Strong understanding of production flow, machinery, automation, labor planning, capacity, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong financial judgment around cost, labor, capital, and ROI.
  • Track record of developing leaders and holding teams accountable.
  • A practical, decisive leadership style with enough humility to listen, learn, and adapt.
  • Full-time onsite availability in the New York City Metro Area.

Particularly Relevant Backgrounds

Preferred, but not required:

  • Custom or made-to-order manufacturing
  • Cabinetry, furniture, wood products, millwork, or building products
  • Paint, coatings, or finishing operations
  • High-mix manufacturing
  • Automation and capacity expansion
  • Turnaround or transformation environments

Exact industry matters less than proven manufacturing leadership, scale, analytical strength, and the ability to build an operation that can grow.
