Job # 5322

COO (Healthcare)

Mai Placement

Job Overview

Chief Operating Officer – Multi-Site Healthcare Services

Philadelphia, PA – On-Site
$200,000 – $250,000

Overview

A large, growing multi-site healthcare services organization is seeking a hands-on Chief Operating Officer to take ownership of day-to-day operations and drive performance across a significant regional footprint.

This is not a corporate COO role for someone who wants to manage from a distance. The organization has established locations, leadership teams, and infrastructure in place. What it needs is a strong operator who will be on the ground, close to the business, and accountable for results.

The COO will oversee operations across multiple locations, work closely with site and department leadership, identify where execution is falling short, and make sure issues actually get resolved. A major focus will be strengthening accountability, improving site performance, driving growth and utilization, and creating greater consistency across the organization.

The right person can walk into a complex, people-intensive operation, quickly understand what’s happening, earn the respect of the team, and get things moving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of day-to-day operations across a large multi-site organization
  • Lead, support, and hold site and department leaders accountable for performance
  • Maintain a strong on-the-ground presence and stay closely connected to what is happening across locations
  • Drive growth, utilization, and overall site performance
  • Identify underperforming locations, operational gaps, and execution issues and implement practical solutions
  • Ensure leadership priorities are being executed consistently across the organization
  • Strengthen systems, workflows, communication, and accountability across teams
  • Establish clear expectations, performance metrics, and follow-through for operational leaders
  • Work across departments to remove roadblocks and keep the organization moving
  • Ensure locations are properly staffed, managed, and operating effectively
  • Partner closely with senior leadership on strategy while taking ownership of execution
  • Strengthen the existing operation while building the structure needed to support continued growth

The on-site component is important—the client specifically wants an operator who is physically present and involved rather than trying to run the organization remotely.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a strong, hands-on operator who knows how to run a complex, multi-location, people-driven organization.

This person should have:

  • Proven senior operations leadership experience across multiple locations
  • Experience managing leaders and driving accountability throughout an organization
  • A track record of improving performance, fixing operational issues, and driving growth
  • Strong business judgment and the ability to quickly understand what’s working and what’s not
  • Experience using KPIs and performance data to manage operations and make decisions
  • A hands-on leadership style with the willingness to get into the details when needed
  • Strong people-management and communication skills with the ability to earn trust while still holding a high bar
  • Experience building stronger systems, processes, and operational discipline
  • Ability to manage a fast-moving organization without overcomplicating it
  • Confidence partnering with ownership and senior leadership while independently driving execution

Healthcare or another regulated service environment is preferred, including homecare, senior care, skilled nursing, behavioral health, medical services, or other multi-site healthcare operations. Strong operators from other complex, people-intensive service organizations may also be considered.

This is an opportunity for a proven operator who wants real ownership, visibility, and impact—someone who can strengthen an already established organization, raise the level of execution, and help take it through its next stage of growth.
